A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, on Tuesday, approached a Kaduna Customary Court, seeking divorce over her husband, Felix Stephen’s excessive sexual demands. The Head of Civil Service in Rivers State, George Nwaeke, has resigned. “The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, is saddened to announce the resignation of the Head of Service, Rivers State, Mr Nwaeke.” Mr Nwaeke’s resignation is contained in a letter made available to pressmen on Tuesday morning by the chief of staff to the sole administrator. Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has decried the failure of democracy in Nigeria, and by extension, Africa due to what he described as its foreigness to native ideas. The Federal Government has promised to pay the backlog of the new N77,000 monthly allowance to members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), after several months of delay. Recall that the Federal Government increased corps members’ allowance from N33,000 to N77,000 in September 2024. Despite repeated promises and backlash, the new allowance structure is yet to be implemented. However, serving corps members and those in the scheme when the increment was announced in September 2024 will receive a backdated payment.
