Joining the queue of dissenters, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, has frowned at the declaration of a state of emergency in the state, describing it as unconstitutional and a threat to democracy.
Consequently, the APC chieftain demanded an immediate reversal of the declaration and a lift of the suspension placed on the state governor, deputy governor and the state assembly.

The party stalwart gave President Tinubu seven days to vacate the order or face serious legal action.
President Tinubu had on March 18 declared a state of emergency in Rivers State following a succession of political crises which have engulfed the state since October 2023.
Sequel to this, the state governor, deputy governor and state assembly were all suspended.
Although this decision has sparked criticism from different sections of the country, the National Assembly had on Friday ratified the declaration through a voice vote.
