
The long-held dream of the Idanre community to establish a higher institution is beginning to materialize. The House Committee on Digital and Information Technology (ICT) has opened a forum for public hearing to engage with the community on the need for a higher institution in Idanre, Ondo State.
According to an advertisement widely published in national newspapers on May 23, 2025, the committee announced that a bill initiated by Honourable Festus Akingbaso, representing the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, will be discussed. The public hearing is scheduled for May 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Meeting Room 201, House of Representatives New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

A statement from Akingbaso’s media team reads:
“The House of Representatives Committee on Digital and Information Technology (ICT) invites the people of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency to participate in a public hearing regarding the establishment of the Federal Institute of Information Communication Technology in Idanre, Ondo State (HB.783).
The institute will provide full-time ICT courses, training, and instruction, along with provisions for a Provost and staff to oversee administration and student discipline.”
The hearing will also cover a bill aimed at promoting ICT education and entrepreneurship nationwide (HB.1360).
Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas (Ph.D, GCON), Speaker of the House, will serve as the Chief Host, with Rep. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, Committee Chairman, hosting the event.
Honourable Festus Akingbaso hopes that residents of Idanre/Ifedore will attend or submit memoranda to the Committee Secretariat in support of this initiative, which promises to enhance technological advancement in the community.
