A man, Olufemi Akindele Lawson, has called out the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) over its unwarranted withdrawal of N70,000 from his GTB bank account on the 21st May, 2025.
According to him, the reason stated for the unilateral withdrawal of the money by the bank is unconnected to a bet which they claimed he indulged in.

Lawson found it difficult to believe this as he claimed that he has never taken part in a sporting bet in his life. He also said he does not know how it is done.
“Guaranty Trust is a Rogue institution. I will avail you my Office and Home address, hoping that you will arrest me this morning. I woke up this morning, with my correct bank balance, dropped my children in school and stopped to by fuel at a nearby Station.”
He revealed how he lost his money thus: “Immediately after the purchase. I noticed a strange deduction of 70k from my account, thinking it was the usual glitch, there was no reversal for almost 2hrs, then I decided to call the customer service line, only to be told, that I made a BETTING transaction of over 50k from my card. Me, BET? If you put the simplest betting app before me, I don’t know what it looks like.”
“More so, I rarely use my card, except when I’m out of town. Without sounding immodest, I will take this beyond that GTB would think it is, in their culture of STEALING from the poor people.”
“Someone says just 70k? I replied YES. I nor be Yahoo Boy. 70k is a whole lot. As much as a bag of Rice for my family.”
This development is coming some weeks after popular social media influencer, VeryDarkManโs outcry over similar Indiscriminate withdrawal by the bank.
