The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is preparing to take strict action against members who are no longer loyal to the party’s core values and rules.

This decision is expected to be a key focus when the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meets on May 27, 2025.

Chief Bode George, a senior figure in the party, explained during a recent television interview that the upcoming meeting would address the rising cases of disloyalty within the party.

He noted that some members have chosen personal gain over serving the public, which goes against the ideas on which the PDP was built.

According to him, such actions have created confusion and damaged the party’s image as a strong alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

George believes the NEC meeting will offer an opportunity to confront the problems openly and take bold steps, including removing members who no longer follow the party’s direction.

He stressed that the party must return to the path set by its founding members, and that those who can’t follow the rules may have to leave.

The PDP has faced internal struggles since losing the 2023 elections. Instead of standing together to challenge the APC, the party has been troubled by internal disputes and divided loyalty.

Some party members have publicly supported President Bola Tinubu of the APC, worsening the division.

One notable example is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Despite remaining in the PDP, Wike recently declared support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, a move that has angered many within the party.

His actions have led to criticism of the PDP leadership for failing to deal with acts of disloyalty quickly.
