Reports indicate that a man, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was fatally struck while attempting to steal the ancient Agemo Statue at Itoro Roundabout in Ijebu Ode early this morning.
This shocking incident has raised concerns nationwide, particularly as the alleged thief is believed to be of Igbo descent.

The Agemo Festival, a masked or masquerade celebration, is traditionally observed in various Yoruba cities but is most closely associated with the Ijebu people of Ogun State. This festival, along with its rituals, honors the spirit deity Agemo, revered as a protector of children and a guardian of the future of Ijebu through its blessings.
The festival is tied to traditional African religion, notably the practices of the Agemo cult, which often leads to restrictions on movement during specific periods of celebration.
