A millionaire businessman, identified as Eke Agbai Eke, has dragged FirstBank to court over what he described as fraud against his person and breach of fiduciary duty.

Eke, a wealthy and influential personality in Abia State had deposited a sum of five hundred and fifty million Naira (₦550,000,000) with the Abiriba Branch of FirstBank in Abia State, in a bid to support and contribute to the development of the community.

Although the Abiriba FirstBank branch has now relocated to Uzuakoli, Mr Eke decided to challenge the fraud after the bank failed to account for his N550 Million Naira.

In a lawsuit filed by Mr. Eke’s lawyer, Ebuka Nwaeze, he stated that FirstBank has refused to refund his N550million Naira deposit, which he originally placed at the Abiriba branch to help grow the bank’s presence in his community.

It was gathered that a total number of nine senior executives have so far been suspended after they were found to be involved in the disappearance of the money.

During the last court sitting, both FirstBank and Mr. Eke Agbai were present in court.

Justice U.D. Enwereji, the presiding judge, later adjourned the case to allow for a proper hearing and for the parties to present their various evidences.

Efforts to reach out to FirstBank’s lawyer or the organisation’s spokesperson were unsuccessful as of the time of filling this report.
