The Honourable Representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Aviation, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, has assured that his commitment to bringing the dividends of good governance to his constituency remains intact despite his recent foray to the ruling APC.
Hon. Akingbaso, in a statement released on the 31st May, 2025, titled, “New Voyage, Same Commitment”, hinged his decision to embark on a fresh political adventure on the significant challenges he encountered owing to his minority position in the National Assembly. These significant challenges which affected his progress is a subset of a larger challenge with the opposition People’s Democratic Party which kept dividing owing to clash of interests everyday.
The statement reads:
“After a thorough and analytical review of various circumstances, I have come to the decision to embark on a fresh political adventure. As the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, I owe my constituents several obligations. However, as a minority member of the National Assembly, I have encountered significant challenges that have hindered my progress.”
“Following careful consideration and wider consultation, I have decided to join the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC). I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Peoples Democratic Party for providing me with a platform to serve, and I thank party members for their support. I still hold them in high esteem as friends and family.”
“I appreciate the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and assure them of my readiness to contribute value to the party as a federal lawmaker. To my constituents, I want to reassure you that our pact remains intact, and my renewed energy will be channelled towards serving you through vibrant and robust legislation.”
“God bless you immensely.”
