Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with the Police have arrested 20 individuals suspected to be behind the recent glitch which tampered with the results of the just concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB.
The suspects, arrested in Abuja on Friday, are part of a larger syndicate of web hackers numbering about 100, the rest of whom are still at large.

The suspects, combining sophisticated technology with top-notch knowledge of the web system, specialise in hacking the websites of prominent examination bodies like the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examinations Council (NECO) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), among others.
Investigations are still ongoing into the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of their operations with the aim of bringing them to face the full wrath of the law.
After much hues and cries, JAMB had earlier admitted to a glitch (which they subsequently called a human error) in the 2025 UTME and conducted a make-up examination for the affected 379,997 candidates in Lagos and the five Southeast states.
The development has sparked a wave of reactions across the country with some Nigerians calling for the resignation of Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, over what they tag his incompetence and dereliction of duty.
