
Men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, have launched a manhunt against the abductors of an APC ward chairman kidnapped yesterday in Ondo State.

he state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the APC chieftain was kidnapped at the entrance to his farm.
“I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC Ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, local Vigilante Group of Nigeria and personnel of the Nigerian Army, launched a manhunt for the suspects,” he said.
The police command solicited information that could assist in the ongoing rescue operation from members of the public.
Citizens were also counselled to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the authorities.
Also confirming the abduction, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the security outfit had launched a search operation to track down the abductors.
He assured that the Corps would secure Adepoyigi’s safe release as efforts are on course to achieve that.
In his reaction, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, condemned the incident and called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the victim.
“This is unfortunate, and we want to appeal to our security agencies in the state to ensure the safe release of one of my members. I learned they have commenced work on it, and I want to urge them to ensure he is released unhurt,” he said.
