An unbelievable tale springs up as a candidate who scored an aggregate of 314 in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) surprisingly scored 167 when he retook the exam in 2025.

The 17-year-old Medicine and Surgery applicant identified as Ofili Onyekachi Emmanuel who could not secure admission for his desired course of study decided to get into the ring again this year with the hope of finally landing on his dream course.

But the turning point came when Onyekachi checked his 2025 UTME result only to behold the shock of his life. The breakdown of his scores is as follows: Use of English- 38, Physics- 46, Biology- 51, Chemistry- 32.

The results, shared by Alex Onyia on X, have ignited a wave of reactions from netizens.

Onyia’s post read, “Ofili Onyekachi Emmanuel scored 314 in last year’s JAMB and this year scored 167 after studying way harder because he wants to study medicine.

“Will his dream over because of inefficiency of JAMB’s poor system?

“He needs to see his mark-sheet. This is the case of 3487 students that have raised concerns so far!

“JAMB has ruined a lot of people’s career. Enough is enough!”

Some commenters sided with the candidate, insisting that there are irregularities in JAMB’s marking and results collation system, buttressing their arguments with first-hand experiences.

On the flip side, others yanked off such claims, stating that each candidate got the score he/she deserved.
