Traditional rulers in Ondo State have assured that Nigerians will have no reason than to beg President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest the 2027 presidential election when they assess his performance.

The monarchs made this open disclosure when the nation’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu visited them at their Obas’ Secretariat in Akure, as part of her two days visit to Ondo State.

Mrs Tinubu had sought the backing of traditional rulers in Ondo State to end female genital mutilation, Hepatitis B, and other related sicknesses affecting women folks in the country.

Mrs Tinubu flanked by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his wife, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, engaged members of the Ondo State Council of Obas on the need for them to throw their weight behind her advocacy to tackle pressing health issues affecting Nigerian women, including the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, and Tuberculosis.

Responding, the Chairman of the state Council of Obas and Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye, who addressed the gathering through the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Ogunlade, commended Mrs Tinubu’s initiatives and pledged the support and prayers of the traditional institution.

The monarch said, “We may not be able to offer financial help, but our prayers will never cease for the success of President Tinubu’s administration.”

The Royal father also hailed the First Lady’s loyalty and visible support for her husband, stating: “By the time Asiwaju completes his first term, Nigerians will beg him to go for another.”

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa during the visit praised President Tinubu’s giant strides in Ondo State, saying “I would also like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for his purposeful leadership in Nigeria, which has given all of us a renewed hope, his unfeigned love for our dear State and for the numerous Federal Government projects being implemented in Ondo State.

“We deeply appreciate the new Teaching Hospital approved for the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the upgrading of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo to a full fledge University of Education, the ongoing Lagos – Calabar Coastal Road, passing through Ondo State and the siting of the Nigeria Air Force Secondary School at Igbara-Oke to mention a few.

“The socio-economic impacts of these infrastructure to our State are monumental. Mr. President’s commitment to the country’s development is evident in the various initiatives and landmark projects, taking shape across the country and we are proud to see the positive impact of these projects in our State,” said Aiyedatiwa.
