An Ondo resident identified by his social media name ‘KALAKUTA POLITICAL EMANAT’ has taken to his green app to decry the poor state of health facilities and dearth of health workers in Ondo State.
In a post on a WhatsApp group, the frustrated man revealed that patients now receive drips and treatments on chairs as against the usual practice of receiving such treatments on bed.

In his words, “There is shortage of staffs at the General Hospital Ondo. I brought someone here for treatment. And you need to see someone who is on drip sitting on the chair. The Health teams are needed, plz.”
This ugly situation is one among many of such improprieties happening across state-owned hospitals in Ondo State. In some facilities, there are no equipments; while in some, a single doctor attends to hundreds of patients.
The narrative is uglier in some occasions in that in many hospitals, the environment is not conducive: Patients sleep on mats, pay for the lightening of the hospitals, and in some worst scenarios, have to make do with lamps for their period of stay in the facilities.
Accordingly, this presents a wake-up call to the government to live up to its responsibility of providing standard healthcare for the people.
