The Ondo State TakeItBack Movement has issued a strong condemnation of the escalating insecurity in the region, which has led to significant loss of life, property, and livelihoods. The movement holds Governor Ayedatiwa and his administration accountable for the deteriorating security situation.
On March 10, 2025, the Nigerian Police Force, Ondo State Command, confirmed a brutal attack in four communities within the Akure North Local Government Area—Aba Alajido, Aba Sunday, Aba Pastor, and Ademeku—by suspected bandits. Reports indicate that at least 14 bodies were recovered following the attack, which the state government initially denied.

Additionally, on March 7, 2025, incidents of abduction were reported in Owo Local Government, where a family of four was kidnapped from their home along the Old Owo-Ipele Road.
These alarming trends in kidnapping and violence underscore a significant failure by the state government to uphold law and order and ensure the safety of its citizens. The TakeItBack Movement insists that the people of Ondo State deserve better protection and support from their government.
“We challenge Governor Ayedatiwa to take immediate and decisive action to address the security challenges facing Ondo State,” stated Patrick Owolabi, the Ondo State Coordinator for the TakeItBack Movement. He emphasized the need for increased deployment of security personnel to vulnerable areas, community engagement to tackle the root causes of insecurity, and accountability for those responsible for these breaches.
The movement calls on all citizens of Nigeria to join in condemning the rise in insecurity and to demand immediate action from the Ondo State government. Together, the movement believes that a safer and more just society can be achieved for all.
