The Social Democratic party SDP in Ondo state has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has massively rigged the last Saturday’s local government election in the state.

The Chairman of the party, Barr Gbenga Akinbuli, advocated that the election be cancelled on the ground that it lacks credibility. He also complained about non-provision of Form ECA, writing of so-called election results on a sheet of paper at Odigbo and Ile Oluji by ODIEC officials, ballot stuffing, and Police one – sidedness through the DPO.

However, the party also accused a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ore Division of aiding the thuggery of the APC boys by initiating unwarranted arrests of SDP candidates in the area for kicking against the “election robbery” of the APC

According to the party Chairman, the video evidence available to them, portrays how the DPO, Babatunde Emmanuel, supervised the merciless beating of the Chairmanship candidate of the party in the area, Hon Jimmy Akiyan, who is now hospitalized.

The party however called on the Inspector General Of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the State Police Command, to immediately dismiss the DPO from service for being biased and putting the name of the Nigerian Police in the mud. He claimed the Police aided a political party in rigging election and chasing away opposition party members from polling units, saying the video evidence was taking and will be ready to tender for proof.

Akinbuli condemned in totality, the shortage of security personnels of the Nigerian Police Force for the election which also gave room for molestation by the rulling party, APC.
