In an effort to address the skills gap in the renewable energy industry and equip young graduates with valuable expertise, as well as to secure talent in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding clean energy sector, the Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced the NEXTGEN RESCO Program. This initiative is implemented through a collaboration between the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), and the Ecological Innovation Empowerment Initiative (EIEI).

A total of 131 young graduates, representing equal numbers of future male and female leaders, have been formally welcomed into a year-long program. This initiative provides them with a distinctive chance to acquire valuable industry insights, engage with experts, and work alongside important stakeholders within the energy sector.

Through strategic partnerships with Renewable Energy Service Companies, the REA has also gained support from the private sector. This collaboration ensures that participants of the NEXTGEN RESCO Program’s 2025 cohort can secure active positions within private sector companies in Nigeria, maximizing the expertise they have developed over the 12-month Program.
