The immediate past Attorney-General of Ondo State, Charles Titiloye SAN, has filed a lawsuit against the Ondo State government over alleged trespass into his property, its designation for demolition by the officials acting in representative capacity for the Ondo State governor, the incumbent Attorney-General and Commissioner for Lands and Housing.
Titiloye’s statement of information, titled, “FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL OF ONDO STATE, SIR CHARLES TITILOYE, SENIOR ADVOCATE OF NIGERIA FILED LAW SUIT AGAINST ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT OVER MARKING HIS HOME FOR DEMOLITION, avers that the planned demolition was personally targeted to harrass, intimidate him, probably owing to his role in the past government. He stated how he was the only one marked for this proposed act of demolition in the whole of the estate.

In his words: “The immediate Past Attorney General of Ondo State, Sir Charles Titiloye SAN has filed an action against the ONDO State Government at the High Court, Akure over the enumeration and or marking his House on Plot 8, Alagbaka GRA, Akure for demolition.”
“In a Writ of Summons filed before the High Court, Akure, Sir Charles Titiloye is praying the Court to declare as illegal, wrongful and violation of his rights guaranteed by Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria to own landed property, the marking and or enumeration of his private residential building in Akure for demolition by the Government.”
“Titiloye is praying the Court to declare the planned demolition of his building as an act of undue harassment, intimidation, unwarranted disturbance of his quiet enjoyment of his property guaranteed by Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria and the terms of Certificate of statutory rights of occupancy issued to him by the Governor on the 29th of April, 2022.”
“The Claimant, Sir Charles Titiloye SAN prayed the Court to award the sum of N300 million Naira as General and Exemplary damages jointly and severally against the Defendants for disturbing his quiet enjoyment of his property.”
“He prayed the Court to perpetually restrain the Governor of Ondo State, Attorney General of Ondo State, Commissioner for Lands and Ondo State Government, their agents, privies and assigns from demolishing his Home where he presently lives with his family.”
“In the statement of claim in support of the suit, Sir Charles Titiloye SAN noted that he followed due process to acquire and pay for the land from Government and was accordingly issued a certificate of occupancy by the Governor. The survey of the Land and allocation of Plot 8, Alagbaka GRA was officially carried out by the office of the surveyor General of Ondo State in a transparent manner.”
“The Claimant avers that on 9th of April, 2025 when he and his family had gone to work, the Defendants agents trespassed into his property and marked the frontal part with red paint. He further alleged that his property was specifically targeted by the Government officials as no privately owned property was so marked or enumerated for demolition in the whole Estate. He noted that the plan being orchestrated against him and his family is to demolish their home illegally and render him homeless to face public ridicule and embarrassment.”
